I get asked about Magento about every day of the week–three times.
I’ve been working with it since it was released performing installations, updates, skinning, production population, payment and shipping gateways, third party code integration, SSL security and training customers how to use it. Below are some notes to help shed some light on one of today’s more popular eCommerce software packages. I’ll focus on the free open-source version and not the Commercial version.
DO I NEED MAGENTO?
I would say if you want a program that is quick and admin back-end friendly, stay away from Magento. It’s backend is very powerful yet for the beginner in Content Management for eCommerce it can be a bit daunting to post even a single product. But if you have time to learn how to use the Magento you will be delighted with its abilities that other more easy-to-manage eCommerce packages fail to offer. So please consider it–but be prepared for a learning curve and a higher budget for skinning the site with custom graphics if that is a part of your budget.
Creating custom icons, locations, pop-ups and more!
I provide custom google map coding services using all the platforms Google offers. Please don’t hesitate to ask about how the process works. Functional prototype maps are available, if you need a visual idea of things. While I’m on the subject of Google Maps, does your business have a little Red Button? It should by now. If it doesn’t I can help with SEO work. Please contact me asap and in a month or two you can be receiving your little notification postcard and business window sticker from Google. Presto!
I finished the photo shoot for Penninsula Media’s magazine, “Patio & Hearth Products Report”. It was a quick shoot–with no post processing–that included the interior showroom, the exterior architecture and outside showroom as well as portraiture shots of the owner.
After two or three days of evaluation and weather changes I went in and did the shoot in less then three hours. The shoot was Pristine Pool & Spa in Boise, Idaho at Eagle Road and Ustick Ave. They won the national award for best outdoor showroom. They have three full-sized pools out in the parking lot in a nice fenced area–with barbecue classes on Thursday night and six for five bucks!
Thanks again to Carol at Patio & Heart Products Report and the staff at Pristine Pool and Spa.
I’ve an ever increasing demand for more website material, samples, and information. So I’m converting to a WordPress site. I hope to be able to share more projects, plans, information and more using a content management system. Wish me luck! Finding the time to get it done is the tricky part. Do you need WordPress help or are interested in installing your own site, please call anytime. They are very easy to manage.
